iPod will delete all content if I sync my music library?

Podcasts are already synced but now if I want music it is going to delete everything? Is there a way to bypass this or maybe i'm just not reading it correctly and it will not delete anything? I have been using the same mac to sync this ipod since it had been restored no other mac has this ipod been plugged into since then.

If the warning specifically says the iPod is synced with another music library, don’t click Erase and Sync yet. That will erase the music currently on the iPod and replace it with music from this Mac’s library. Apple confirms that the warning applies to the selected content type.

Since you’ve only used this Mac since restoring the iPod, I’d first check whether the Music library on the Mac was changed, replaced, or recreated since that restore.

Your podcasts are a separate sync category, so turning on music syncing shouldn’t by itself mean everything on the iPod gets erased. The exact wording of the warning would help here.
