Original Title: iPhone xs max does not search in contacts or in the notes I have in contacts. Even though the surname I am looking for is there in contacts, it does not show it to me.

Go under settings-search-contacts
Do you have show content in search turned on?

If the contact is there but Search won’t find it, I’d first open Contacts > Lists and check which account that contact is stored in. If you have iCloud, Gmail, or another account, try searching within that individual list. Apple also recommends pulling down on the Contacts list to refresh it.
For Notes, make sure you’re searching All Accounts, not just one folder or account.
I’d also restart the iPhone after checking those. If the problem affects all contacts rather than just a few, that would help narrow it down.
