Trying to use webcam/microphone to open video call for NHS appointment

I'm trying to open webcam and microphone on the NHS Attend Anywhere link. It will go on for a couple of seconds and then goes off.

I've tried to look at the settings both on the MacBook Air and on Safari, although I'm certainly not technical. Does anyone have any simple ideas?

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 15.7

I’d check the permissions in both places first.

On the Mac, go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera, then Microphone, and make sure Safari is allowed.

Then in Safari, open the NHS Attend Anywhere page and go to Safari > Settings > Websites. Check both Camera and Microphone and make sure that NHS site is set to Allow. Apple documents those Safari permissions here: Customize settings for each website in Safari on Mac - Apple Support

Attend Anywhere does support Safari on a Mac, so if both permissions are already allowed, I’d also try its test call before the appointment.
