Tahoe 26.6.2 won't allow imessage app to work on Macbook Pro

2023 M3 Macbook Pro updated to Tahoe 26.6.2 and now my imessage wont allow me to sign in and wont sync texts to computer. What gives? Constantly making me re-sign in and then says, "Unknown error" and starts all over.

I’d check whether this is an iMessage activation problem rather than a syncing problem.

In Messages > Settings > iMessage, sign out of iMessage, restart the Mac, then sign back in with the same Apple Account. Also make sure Date & Time is set correctly and temporarily disable any VPN or security software, since Apple notes those can interfere with iMessage sign-in. If you can’t turn on or sign in to iMessage or FaceTime on iPad, Mac, or Apple Vision Pro

If you still get “Unknown error,” Apple also has an online iMessage/FaceTime activation check here: If you can’t turn on or sign in to iMessage or FaceTime on iPad, Mac, or Apple Vision Pro

Since this started immediately after the update, I wouldn’t start deleting Messages data or preference files yet.

Hank, I ended up on the phone with Apple support twice, both lasted over an hour. First time, it worked while on the phone with them. Stopped working about 20 minutes later. Called again a week later and this time it was escalated to a higher up manager. Again, on the phone for well over an hour. Went through everything it could've been only to hear them say, "Well, that's weird." Final solution that worked was to just reinstall Tahoe 26.6.2. The install said it would take 4 hours but it was finished in about an hour. It solved my issue. Good luck!
