Unauthorized Apple Account Created Using My Email Address – Need Help

Someone created or is using an Apple Account with my email address without my authorization. I have never created an Apple Account with this email address. A phone number that I don't recognize was added for two-factor authentication on August 27, 2026, and I received an Apple notification about an unauthorized ChatGPT purchase from the United States. I don't know the account password, birthday, or trusted phone number. I need help securing my email address and dealing with this unauthorized Apple Account.

Since you never created this Apple Account and don’t recognize the trusted phone number, I wouldn’t try to change its account details yourself.

First, secure the email account involved: change its password, enable two-factor authentication with your email provider, and check that no forwarding rules or recovery details were added without your knowledge.

For the Apple Account itself, contact Apple Support and explain that your email address appears to have been used to create an account you don’t own and that an unknown trusted phone number was added. Also, don’t use links in the purchase notification unless you’ve verified that it really came from Apple. If there’s an actual charge on your card or bank account, contact the card issuer as well.
