Apple ID password not recognized in iTunes Store on Windows 10

Unable to download from iTunes Store to Windows 10 laptop - not recognising password for my Apple ID

I tried to download some music from the iTunes Store to my W10 laptop earlier today. I got the usual prompt to sign into my account, but when I put the password in it just goes back to the login screen.

I don’t want to start mucking about with my Apple ID by changing my password unless I really need to (interactions with Apple terrify me for some reason) so I’ve come here to see if anyone else is having the same issue and if there’s an easy fix.

If anyone needs anymore information let me know.

I wouldn’t change your Apple ID password yet.

First, in iTunes go to Account > Authorizations > Authorize This Computer and try signing in there. Your PC needs to be authorized before it can download purchased music.

If the password is accepted elsewhere but iTunes just keeps returning to the sign-in screen, that would point more to an iTunes sign-in problem than a bad password.

I’d also make sure you’re signing in with the same Apple ID that was used to purchase the music.
