Request to relax aggressive Safari RAM management on iOS

I am writing to request an optimization of how iOS manages memory (RAM) for Safari.

Currently, Safari background tabs reload far too aggressively, even when only a few tabs are open or when switching away from the app for just a few moments.

This constant reloading severely disrupts my workflow, causes me to lose active text inputs or scroll positions, and wastes both cellular data and battery life. While I understand the need to prioritize active system resources, the current threshold is too restrictive for modern multitasking needs.

Apple, Please consider adjusting the memory preservation limits for Safari tabs in future iOS updates.

This is mainly a feature request rather than something other users here can change.

I’d send it directly to Apple through the Safari feedback form:

Apple says they read the feedback submitted there, although they may not reply individually. Your examples about lost text input, scroll position, and unnecessary reloads are exactly the kind of details worth including.

You are posting to a user to user community forum. We are just other Apple users, like yourself, and cannot make any changes. You can post your feedback to Apple, using the link below, if you want. But if you tell us which Apple iPhone you are using to access Safari, and what the iOS is, we may be able to offer suggestions on how to speed things up.
