gps navigation app for the Philippines

I would like to use my old 3g as an ipod touch while traveling in the Philippines so that if it gets lost, no big deal. It appears that the gps apps for the Philippines will work on an ipod touch. Am I correct in this assumption or is there a better app? thanks

What does working on an ipod touch matter? I thought you said it was an iphone 3g.

The app I was looking at purchasing is the PAPAGO. I do have a 3g; however, I no longer use the phone as I have an iPhone4 and don't want to take 4 w/me. So, can't the 3g be used as an ipod touch--i.e., to use for app purposes?

It is still an iphone, not an ipod touch - regardless of how you use it. It runs apps that are iphone compatible.

If this app has the map data stored on the iphone\, then it should work. Otherwise you would need an internet connection to retrieve the map data. Most Navigation Apps that I have seen do store maps locally, so that you do not need an internet connection.
