iPad text message notification sounds intermittently not playing

Hi!

I’ve been dealing with an issue regarding text message notification sounds on my iPad for over a year now.

Sometimes when a text message/iMessage or WhatsApp message comes through on my iPad it plays no sound. This is intermittent, as sometimes it will make a sound and other times it won’t. This happens when I’m actively using the device and when I’m not actively using the device. I do not have a focus set and all my sound settings are set correctly.

Has anyone encountered this or know of a fix? My iPad is running the current operating system (26.6.1) and I own an iPhone and Apple Watch, all running the current operating systems.
