Audio interface does not connect when Mini M4 already on, only with boot up or unplug/replug every time. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello & thank you in advance.

After a new Mac Mini M4 Pro purchase running Tahoe 26.6.2, I had to additionally purchase the Apple adapter Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 in order to connect my Focusrite Clarett 4 Pre Audio interface. After installing drivers etc it does work, but only if I boot up the mac & the audio interface is already on or unplug & replug in my adapter cable when the mini is already on, the latter creates issues with my displays... but that's another thing.

I'm wondering if I can do anything about turning my interface on & off at my discretion & have it connect to the Mini without having to do the above mentioned, like it used too & should.

I choose not to have it on all the time.

With a new system I would have thought it would make sense to simply turn on & the handshake would occur but alas... my current issue...

Wondering which apps you use the audio interface with:

Eg: About third-party Audio Units and external device compatibility in Logic Pro and Final Cut Pro on Mac computers with Apple silicon - Apple Support may have tips,

and

Whether there may be interference from unnecessary third-party apps like virus-checkers, ad-blockers, cleaners and the like (even VPN if not provided by an employer). If installed, you can try turning the apps off, although they may be still running in the background. Better yet is to use uninstallers from their developers.

Also: any third-party apps you find necessary need to be kept up-to-date so they do not cause compatibility issues.

Another possibility: There might be interference with other wireless devices.

Yeah well hoping the professionals can come through with a fix🤞🏽.

I use Logic Pro, but I use the audio interface to listen to anything that I want through my headphones when not through the TV/monitor.

Sometimes I use it for gaming as well the digital optical makes for an immersive experience.. no excuse why I'm playing trash.

Ya ok I'll turn off any additional stuff & try, no VPN on my new mini, all apps had to be updated from my old OSX so it should be good there but always good to double check.

Cheers.

I just tried all the apps off & additional connected items unplugged, still the same issue.

I even tried to unplug from the adapter, the Thunderbolt 3 to adapter part whilst adapter still plugged in & that didn't work. Only if I unplug the adapter completely from the USB C thunderbolt port it connects, other than having the interface on then restart the mini.

I noticed current in the form of sparks when I try to connect a couple of powered items into the back of the mini & touch the shell... strange, this causes my displays to flash like a power surge, this is briefly mentioned in my OG post... it is a current issue ⚡️
