Audio recordings not being consistent since the last Logic Pro 12.3.1 update

Serious issues after upgrading to 12.3.1.? 2024 Mac mini M4 & Logic Pro 12.3.1

in Audio, recordings can vary from a take time stretching or slow motion. not actually recording all of the notes. after several takes, some of the takes in the folder ( 8 bars looped) won't record properly. it's like slow slurring and missing notes. also, when another take, longer than 8 bars is played ... there is a long pause before the recording, then it places the recorded part beyond the end of the loop?? crazy ghosts in the machine!
