I would suggest a M5 MacBook Air, or M5-series MacBook Pro. Make sure to get enough RAM and internal SSD storage – as you cannot expand either after purchase. If the Certified Refurbished section of Apple's online store has any M4-series MacBook Airs and Pros, you could also take a look at them.
You may want to check with vendors or users of the photo editing software you plan to run.
If you are going to be doing much of your photo editing at home, or in an office, I'd suggest getting an external 27" or 32" monitor with
27" 5K monitors (like the 27" Apple Studio Display) are still pretty expensive, although I believe that there are some third-party ones now for under $800 USD (if you have a Mac that can drive them).
27" 4K monitors are a dime a dozen, and you can get some that have good specifications for less than $500 USD.

True "MacBooks" are obsolete, discontinued 7 years ago. Apple's current offereings are:
— Macbook Pro MacBook Pro - Tech Specs - Apple
— Macbook Air MacBook Air - Tech Specs - Apple
— MacBook Neo MacBook Neo - Tech Specs - Apple
The NEO is intended to hit a low price point for users with minimal needs. It has limited memory, ports, and storage.
I'd go with either the Macbook Air or Macbook Pro. If you get into rendering or video editing I would go for the Macbook Pro. The other two are convection-cooled—no cooling fans. The Pro also has more ports for expansion and external monitors..
Both the Pro and the Air have a minimum 16GB RAM and can be up-ordered with more. I recommend no less than 1TB of storage. Image files tend to get big.
