M4 Mac mini internal drive space rapidly filling in real-time
Hello
i have an M4 Mac mini with 500gb hard drive
i don’t keep any files on it. Only apps.
Photos Movies and music library are on external ssd, but for clarity there are more than 82k photos and about 8k songs in music, in case that matters later
something is using up all of my internal drive space in real time. I see it dropping from 40gb to 120mb before my eyes.
I’ve tried the activity monitor but I don’t see anything that looks odd.
I tried a bunch of things in the terminal but even if I got some space back it would be lost in minutes and back to almost nothing
i erased the drive and reformatted, and that worked until I connected to the internet and now it’s happening again.
I don’t have hundreds of gigs of files on this drive.
I don’t use Time Machine, but I tried that when I first got the mini and it failed for lack of drive space (even on external drive) and I turned it off and don’t use that external drive anymore
so I think something is downloading from iCloud or Time Machine photos or music or some other service that I can’t see happening.
any advice how to eliminate this drain would be so appreciated
im not a programmer but I am somewhat savvy and understand the lingo and I’m not afraid of the terminal.
TIA
Mac mini (M4, 2024)
