16-inch MacBook Pro asks for password after sleep

I have just got going with a new 16" MacBook Pro laptop. everytime I go to use it after a wait it asks me to sign in with the computer's PW. I've set up Touch ID for me so not a big deal but my wife also uses it and having to enter this new PW everytime [or sometimes multiple times if using is delayed] is a problem. Is there a way to shut down the PW need to open?
