macOS 12.7.6 Monterey not recognizing SD card or some USB?

I just updated my Macbook Air (2017) to macOS 12.7.6 Monterey (this is the latest update this year of Macbook will do).

Anyway, I went to try to get some photos off my digital camera and the SD card isn't being recognized. I tried all the tips online to get it to appear and it won't. So I tried to directly plug the USB into the computer and that wasn't being recognized in Finder, either.

When doing the USB, the camera fires on and says it's charging so I know the connection is there...but it's not appearing in Finder. All my boxes are checked for the Settings showing external disks.

It seems like it just won't recognize some stuff that it used to before?! Any ideas or suggestions??
