How do I reactivate iMac without erasing data using proof of purchase?
I purchased an iMac for my wife in 2022. she does not have a cell phone so I set it up under my Apple ID. I have since then changed my ID a few times. She kept getting a pop up asking for her Apple ID and I told her to just close it. I remember seeing her device under my account but recently, she just wanted to change her log in password. When I googled the steps to do that, I said to deactivate the device. So upon start up, a window pops up to reactivate iMac. I needs the password that was used when it was set up. Nothing works. I don't remember what the ID was from 2022. Also, her iMac no longer shows up under my find my list. I called support and they tried but no luck. He DID say there was a way to reactivate it without erasing all data but it would require proof of purchase (which I have) and it wont take them 72 hours to do it on the "back end". I took it to the local Apple Store and they said they could only wipe it. I am interested in how to go about this back end restore that support talked about and how do I proceed?
