Family Sharing: iPad isn't showing in Screen Time

My device: iPhone 14, iOS 26.2.1

Child's device: iPad Mini 5th gen, iPadOS 26.2.1

I have Family Sharing set up to control the use of my child's iPad. When trying to view Screen Time for the iPad, it shows as unavailable for 7+ days. I'm sure that it is signed in to the Internet and iCloud, although I can't verify iCloud because that part of the Settings app is locked down. What can I do to restore this connection, short of wiping the iPad and setting it up again? Thanks in advance!

Hello nosnetrom and welcome to the Apple Support Community.

The warning in your screenshot indicates that Screen Time has not been receiving current usage information from your child’s iPad. Since the iPad is connected to the Internet and the existing restrictions are still in place, we would not erase or set up the iPad again at this stage.

→ Start with the least disruptive checks :

• Update both your iPhone and your child’s iPad, then restart both devices.

• Keep the iPad connected to a reliable Wi-Fi network, use it normally for a few minutes, then check Screen Time again from your iPhone.

→ Verify the child’s Apple Account without signing out :

• On your iPhone, open Settings > Screen Time > [child’s name] > Content & Privacy Restrictions.

• Under Allow Changes To, select Accounts and temporarily set it to Allow.

• On the child’s iPad, verify that the Apple Account shown at the top of Settings is the child’s account that belongs to your Family Sharing group.

• Once verified, you can set Accounts back to Don’t Allow.

The fact that parts of Settings are locked down can therefore be normal : Screen Time can specifically prevent changes to Apple Account settings.

→ Also check from your iPhone that Settings > Screen Time > [child’s name] > App & Website Activity is still enabled.

If the account is correct, App & Website Activity is enabled, both devices are updated and restarted, but the “not available for 7 days” warning remains, we would contact Apple Support before signing out of iCloud or erasing the iPad.

At that point the remaining issue is more consistent with Screen Time/Family Sharing synchronization requiring further investigation.

If you contact Apple Support, please come back and let us know what they find and whether Screen Time reporting starts working again.

🙏

Have a good day.

And one more thing…

Never forget to think different.

Important :

• Always make sure that your Apple devices are running the latest version available of their operating system and that your apps are updated to the latest version available in order to benefit from fixes and compatibility improvements.

• Your iPhone 14 and iPad mini (5th generation) are both reported as running version 26.2.1. The latest public versions currently available for these models are iOS 26.6.1 and iPadOS 26.6.1. You can check for them in Settings > General > Software Update.
