Deleted hide-my-email alias still allowing senders to forward

A "Hide-my-email" address still seems to be active--forwarding emails to my primary address, even though the alias no longer appears in either the active or inactive list of aliases listed in my iCloud account. Does anyone know how this could be happening ? Thanks.
