Content restriction cannot be turned off since iPad ios26 upgrade!

My iPad has just been updated to iOS 26 and I can no longer turn of content restrictions…when I try it just toggles back on again. I am certified as 18+ etc. This is a new problem and very problematic. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks

If your content restrictions toggle back on automatically after an upgrade, you can usually fix this software glitch by refreshing your account login or resetting your device preferences.

Quick Fixes to Try

  • Sign Out of Media & Purchases: Open Settings, tap your name at the top, tap Media & Purchases, and choose Sign Out. Then sign back in using your main Apple Account.
  • Turn Screen Time Off Completely: Go to Settings, tap Screen Time, scroll down, and select Turn Off Screen Time using your passcode.
  • Reset All Settings: If the switch remains stuck, go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPad > Reset > Reset All Settings. This action will not delete your personal photos or apps, but it will return all system settings back to their defaults.
  • Check Family Sharing: Ensure your account is not accidentally bound as a child profile inside a family sharing group, which forces certain restrictions automatically.
