How to restart in recover mode on a MacBook Pro that will not restar

How do I restart in recovery mode? My MacBook Pro will not open. The Apple logo shows and the bar moves about a third of the way and then the computer shuts down. Thanks for the reply

To start your MacBook Pro in recovery mode when it will not boot past the Apple logo, the method depends on whether your Mac has an Apple silicon chip (M1, M2, M3, etc.) or an Intel processor.

For Apple Silicon (M Processor)

  1. Turn off your Mac completely. If it is stuck, press and hold the Power/Touch ID button for about 10 seconds until it turns off.
  2. Press and hold the Power button again.
  3. Keep holding it until you see "Loading startup options" on the screen.
  4. Click the Options icon (gear symbol), then click Continue.
  5. Select an administrator account and enter your password if prompted.

For Intel-based Macs

  1. Turn off your Mac completely. Hold the Power button for 10 seconds if it is unresponsive.
  2. Press and release the Power button to turn it on, then immediately press and hold Command (⌘) + Ron your keyboard.
  3. Keep holding the keys until you see the Apple logo or a spinning globe.
  4. Enter your administrator password if asked.
