AirPods Won’t Connect to iPhone After Forgetting Device

Hi everyone,

I’m having an issue with my AirPods Pro 2. I accidentally selected “Forget This Device” on my iPhone, and now I can’t get my AirPods to connect again.

I’ve tried putting the AirPods back in the charging case and holding the setup button. The case is now flashing white, which I understand means they’re ready to connect, but they don’t appear on my iPhone at all. They don’t show up in the Bluetooth settings or as a pop-up when I open the case near my phone.

I’ve also tried resetting them and repeating the pairing process, but they still won’t appear.

Has anyone experienced this before or know how I can get them to show up on my iPhone again?

Thanks!

iPhone 15 Pro, iOS 26

To fix AirPods that will not appear or connect after selecting "Forget This Device," perform a complete factory reset by holding the setup button until the status light flashes amber and then white.

Complete Factory Reset Steps

  • Place both AirPods Pro 2 into the charging case and close the lid for 30 seconds.
  • Open the charging case lid.
  • Press and hold the setup button on the back of the case for about 15 seconds.
  • Release the button when the status light flashes amber and then white.

Reconnection Steps

  • Turn off your iPhone's Bluetooth via Settings > Bluetooth, wait 5 seconds, and turn it back on.
  • Keep the AirPods inside the case with the lid open and hold the case directly next to your iPhone.
  • A setup animation should now appear on your iPhone screen. Tap Connect and follow the prompts.
