MacBook storage full, preventing access to Photos, Mail, and Pages

MacOS Monterey version 12.7.6

My laptop has reached storage capacity. The photos won't cooperate, I can't access Apple mail. I can't print from my Pages program.as it also is affected. I have to go to my server to access emails. I had an issue with my original email account on my server and set my laptop to let Gmail (my alternate) to be accessed. Now storage is full andI can't do anything. I do have an on line storage with Carbonite but have not synced my laptop yet. Would that clear up my storage problems? I also have a Seagate remote backup that has 2T of space but not sure I'm using it correctly.

Assuming you have some level of access to your laptop (MBAir?) ... move sufficient material to an external drive or server. You need to free up at minimum 20% of your MBAir's storage space in order to make your MBAir operable again. Always keep at least 20% free space on the boot drive.

Copy the folders/files to the external drive, verify the copies are good, then remove them from the internal drive.

See the following to move certain Libraries to an external drive:

Move your Photos library to save space on your Mac - Apple Support

Change where your music files are stored on Mac - Apple Support

Manage your library in the Apple TV app on Mac - Apple Support
