Is this mac disk written ok?

Unsafe shutdowns are nothing to worry about . . . certainly 24 in 32 TB of writing is not much.

I would be more concerned with the 32 TB written as that is quite high for one year. I reckon 10 TB per year is more like what most people will average though it depends on the apps and browsing that you do.

As 3% is used you should theoretically get another 30 years out of the machine though the 3% figure looks as though it is estimating the lifetime to be 1 PB (1,000 TB) which is rather high for a 256 GB SSD.

Most authorities would estimate around 150 - 300 TB which would put the lifespan around 5 - 10 years.

I am wondering whether you have written 32 TB or is there some process secretly writing large amounts in the background. A year or so ago I had Spotlight and its minions secretly writing up to 100 GB per day until I disabled it. That would have brought my usage up to 30+ GB per year if I hadn't disabled it. Incidentally, although it was writing 100 GB per day it never showed up on the SSD. It was as though it was written and instantly deleted.

You can check what is writing to your disk by using Activity Monitor.

The Data Written etc. is measured from your last boot. Mine was just over 21 hours ago.

So where did you get this report and why are you concerned? Are you having issues? if everything is working okay then don’t worry.

The unsafe shutdowns suggest you either lose power in your location or you just pull the plug on your Mini sometimes. That can indeed cause problems and corruption on storage devices. Is the commercial power stable where you live?

Something that could cause lots of writes is how you have the virtual machine configured and how many other apps you may have running at the same time. If you have allocated large amounts of RAM in the virtual machine, you could end up having a lot of memory swapping occurring. This is a situation where you can have lots of writes to the SSD without actually showing up as used disk space.

If you have a virtual machine set up to have more than 6-8 GB of memory with your 16GB Mac and you have many other apps open or a browser with lots of tabs open at the same time, you will likely be in a heavy memory swap situation.

If you're concerned about the health of your boot drive try getting the free DriveDx and run it on your Mac.

We can discount the 2.75 GB used by etrecheck which leaves 6 GB . . . that is a large amount for an hour or so unless you have downloaded 5 or 6 films.

Do you know how to find the exact time your computer has been on since it was last booted?

To find how long it is since you restarted your computer, open Terminal and type . . . .

uptime

Then click the return key and you will get an immediate readout in hours and minutes. As you can see, mine is 21 hours 49 minutes . . .
