Appalling battery life 17 pro max

I have had several iphones.

Got the 17 pro max a couple of months ago.

Is it just me or is the battery life rubbish.

It seems to last so much less than the 15 I just upgraded from.

Anyone any ideas what is going on or have similar issues?

It is so frustrating having to ensure before I go anywhere that it has enough charge.

It lasts less than a day and I am not a heavy user.

Many thanks

Sue

My 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max have amazing battery life. I took my phone off it's charger at 7:30 AM this morning and while I haven't used it heavily, the meter says I have 87% left and it's now 8:15 PM.

If I were you, I'd open Settings > Battery and wait for the apps to populate, which are using the most charge on your phone. Apps from Meta, like Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp are battery hogs. YouTube videos chew through a battery, so does TikTok.

Are you updated to the latest iOS 26.6.1? How often do you Force Restart your iPhone? I do this once a week and after EVERY iOS update and never once have I ever had poor battery life --> Force restart iPhone - Apple Support

I agree with lobsterghost1 (and Johnathan Burger).

I have had my iPhone 17 Pro since September 19, 2025. I charge it to 100% every evening, and turn it off while sleeping (realizing many folks don’t do that, which is perfectly OK).

My iPhone 17 Pro running iOS 26.6.1 currently has 92% charge remains after having been on for about eight hours. Its Maximum Capacity is 99%.

Like lobsterghost1, I have never had a battery life issue, even on days that I use apps with heavier battery demand, or days I update iOS (which causes extra iPhone activity).

You should absolutely check Settings > Battery and review the apps hogging your battery there.
