Enable Charging Case Sounds” randomly greyed out + charging case missing from Find My

AirPods Pro 3 – “Enable Charging Case Sounds” randomly greyed out + charging case missing from Find My

I’m having a strange issue with my AirPods Pro 3.

The “Enable Charging Case Sounds” option randomly becomes greyed out by itself. Sometimes it works normally, and then after some time it becomes grey again without me changing the setting.

The weird thing is that the case sounds can still work even when the setting is greyed out.

Here is everything I’ve tried:

  • AirPods Pro 3, model A3064
  • Firmware 8B41
  • iPhone running iOS 26.6.1
  • The AirPods are fully charged
  • Forgot the AirPods from Bluetooth and paired them again
  • Performed a full AirPods reset
  • Tested the issue on both my iPhone and Mac
  • The problem happens on both devices
  • The option has previously become available and worked normally for around 2 hours, then became grey again by itself
  • I also tested signing out of my Apple Account. When signed out, the option initially became available.
  • I created/tested another Apple Account as well, but after about an hour the same problem came back.
  • I need to stay signed into an Apple Account because I use the App Store.
  • I deleted the Hitta (Find My) app because I initially thought it might be causing the problem, but I later reinstalled it.
  • My AirPods themselves appear in Hitta/Find My.
  • The charging case does NOT appear separately in Hitta/Find My.
  • This is especially strange because Apple says AirPods Pro 3 should show the AirPods and charging case separately in Find My, and the case should also be able to play a sound.
  • I have already tried resetting and re-pairing multiple times, so I would really prefer not to repeat those steps unless there is a specific reason.

At this point I’m wondering if there is a software/Find My synchronization bug involving the charging case, because the case is not appearing separately in Find My and the Charging Case Sounds setting keeps randomly becoming unavailable.

Has anyone with AirPods Pro 3 experienced this exact combination?

AirPods visible in Find My: YES

Charging case visible separately: NO

Charging Case Sounds toggle: RANDOMLY GREYED OUT

Reset/re-pair: already tried

Latest iOS/firmware: YES

Any ideas for a fix would be appreciated.

Since you have already tried standard resets and re-pairing, try this specific sequence which forces a deep cache and network sync for the case's Find My module:

  1. Disable Find My Temporarily: Go to your iPhone Settings > tap your Apple Account/Name > Find My > Find My iPhone and turn it Off completely.
  2. Forget the Device: Go to Settings > Bluetooth, tap the "i" info icon next to your AirPods Pro, and select Forget This Device.
  3. Hard Reset the AirPods:
    • Put your AirPods in the charging case and close the lid for 30 seconds.
    • Open the lid.
    • Press and hold the setup button on the back of the case for about 15 seconds until the status light flashes amber and then white.
  1. Restart Your iPhone: Turn your phone completely off and back on to clear out any stuck iCloud or Bluetooth daemon processes.
  2. Turn Find My Back On: Re-enable Find My iPhone in your iCloud settings.
  3. Re-pair: Keep the AirPods case open near your iPhone and follow the on-screen setup prompt to reconnect them.
