Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max silicone case material degrading
I picked up an Apple silicone case for my iPhone 16 Pro Max back in November 2024. It's served me well until last week, when all of a sudden it has begun to degrade in multiple places at the same time. It was first noticeable around the camera button and the USB C port, but since then has effected multiple areas all around the edges.
There's not been any change in use of the phone in this time (it mostly sits on a stand on my desk), and it's not been exposed to any chemicals or new environments. It's as if the case has suddenly started shedding off in flakes. It's a bit annoying as I've previously purchased the Apple leather cases and they've lasted several years, felt great to hold, and worn only in colour. I'm a bit hesitant to buy a new Apple silicone case if this experience is indicative of their quality.
Is this typical for one of these cases, or did I unfortunately end up with something defective?
