How to display iPhone screen and user's face for online training?

I want to do what I’ve seen others do: I want to have an online video session with people where I’m doing training, with my iPhone on the screen. I want to have my face on the screen, with my iPhone on visible on one side of the screen. Whatever I do on my iPhone would be visible in real time, as my face and voice remain visible and active. So I would be talking and explaining what I’m doing on the iPhone, and my iPhone would be visible and reacting as I’m doing it. It would be ok if my face was not visible as I’m doing things on the iPhone, but it would be important for my voice to be heard as I’m demonstrating what I’m doing on the iPhone. If my face cannot be visible while my iPhone is visible, that would be alright, as long as I could manually switch back and forth between my face and the iPhone. But my voice would need to be heard in either scenario.

I’m open to either native iMac software (QuickTime?) or third-party. I’m using an Apple Silicon iMac running macOS 26, and an iPhone 17 Pro Max running iOS 26.6.1.

The easiest setup on your Mac is probably iPhone Mirroring. It puts a live, interactive iPhone window on the Mac, and your iMac’s camera and microphone can still be used by Zoom, Teams, FaceTime, or whatever you’re using for the training. (Apple Support¹)

Then, in your meeting app, share just the iPhone Mirroring window. Your participants can see what you’re doing on the iPhone while still hearing you, and most meeting apps can keep your camera image visible alongside the shared screen.

One important detail: while using iPhone Mirroring, you control the iPhone from the Mac and the physical iPhone stays locked. If you specifically need to handle the iPhone itself during the demonstration, I’d use a wired QuickTime setup instead.

Also be careful about notifications or personal information appearing during a live demonstration. Apple lets you control whether iPhone notifications appear on the Mac. (Apple Support¹)

Yes, that’s correct. QuickTime itself isn’t conferencing software.

You’d start your meeting in Zoom, Teams, etc., then connect the iPhone to your Mac, open QuickTime, and use File > New Movie Recording to display the iPhone screen. In your meeting app, share the QuickTime window.

Your meeting app would still handle your microphone, camera, and the actual call.

@PreCognition, if I want to use QuickTime, am I correct in assuming that QuickTime is not conferencing software? I’d still have to use Zoom, Teams, etc. to conduct my training? So I would open my conferencing software, initiate the meeting, and open QuickTime?
