Messages (SMS Especially) Not Synchronising/Receiving on new iPAD Mini

My new iPad Mini is not receiving/synchronising Messages (I think it's just SMS ones). This is inconvenient as I cannot set up e.g. Apple Pay - cannot get verification texts. I have switched on iMessage (all devices) and Message Forwarding (on iPhone) but still missing many messages. I am up to date with the Software. Have followed all the help on the Community but the issue is still there.

Date is Sept 2026 so right up to date.

Try this

Grab your iPhone

Go to Settings > Messages > Text Message Forwarding.

Turn your iPad Mini off and back on in that list of devices

Look at your iPhone screen; a pop-up should instantly appear showing a verification code

Type that exact code into your iPad Mini to officially link the devices for SMS forwarding.
