Safari Private Browsing not remembering Autofill

That’s expected behavior in Private Browsing. Safari is designed not to remember AutoFill information entered while you’re browsing privately, along with your history and searches.

If you want Safari to remember new AutoFill information for future visits, use a regular Safari tab instead.

Private mode changes nothing for the remote site.

Private mode does change what is preserved (locally).

If you want to have your history and related data preserved (locally), use normal mode.

If you want fewer details of web activity saved (locally), use private mode.

If you want some separation between clumps of tabs for, say, work and home, use Safari profiles.

But again, private-mode and profiles and the rest don’t alter what the remote website might or can or will do.

I do use private mode when switching languages here at ASC for instance, as ASC has some unusually sticky defaults. Using private mode means I won’t find my mainline using another language and necessitating a trip through several ASC sites to unstick the ASC language setting.

And when I have differ research projects or otherwise want to both associate and isolate tabs, I use profiles.

When considering ad tracking, private mode and profiles are unrelated and inapplicable.

Most folks have almost certainly already opted out of ad tracking entirely and have likely also denied app-specific tracking from most or all apps though, so the local advertising id (IDFA) is the all zeroes value:

00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000

Which is shared by everybody that opted out.

And the “do not track” feature is somewhere between widely ignored, and deprecated.
