Which is better value: Storeograph or DaisyDisk?

They are equally good products. The interfaces are very different. Some features are slightly different. Storeograph can do speed tests and do alerts.

I myself use DaisyDisk. I like the way it visually represents the volumes/disks and the ability to drill down into successive layers to uncover things that may be taking up too much space.

Better value? Only you can decide. The prices are not much different. You can try both before purchasing. I suggest getting them directly from the developers' sites.

Did you view the demonstration video provided on the Storeograph website? Use the link called "See Storeograph in action" from the following link:

From that video, Storeograph appears to be knowledgeable about the various macOS storage & APFS file system features. If I were to purchase such an app (I am considering if I need it), I would go with Storeograph both based on that video demonstration as well as knowing how much low level knowledge @etresoft has of how macOS actually works. I have not seen any other app show such knowledge of macOS and the APFS file system.

How does Daisy Disk & other apps compare?

I guess which app you choose depends on what your goals are here and your own macOS technical skills & knowledge. I think the Storeograph app would likely be of better value for most users who do not understand how current versions of macOS and the APFS file system work.

I don't know. Neither is particularly expensive, as utilities go, or involves an ongoing "subscription" (rental), so the question may come down to features.

Storeograph is available from the App Store. The download is free, but there's a $14.99 USD one-time fee to unlock the full features of the app. The developer site is here . The developer appears to be someone who is a member of these forums, but Forum guidelines might prevent him from posting much about Storeograph here.

DaisyDisk is available from the App Store and from the developer site. The App Store version costs $9.99 USD, up front. The developer site offers both a free trial version and a $9.99 USD full version. The DaisyDisk FAQ indicates that due to App Store rules, some features are impossible to include in the App Store version.

I was aware of DaisyDisk because of having read about it. It got an "Editor's Choice" award in the App Store, and I think Apple may have promoted it on the App Store front page or in an App Store "story" at one time – and I might have seen an article about it on some site like the MacWorld one, too..

In the case of Storeograph, I had not heard of it. But Apple lists the vendor as Etresoft, and in these forums, I have often heard of Etrecheck, due to other contributors encouraging people with problems to run the free version, and to post the reports it generates.

I think the phrase "free trial" means that there is an expectation that if you use the program on a production basis, you should buy a copy. The free trial is to help you to decide whether to buy a piece of commercial software. This is a bit different from the situation with, for instance, LibreOffice, where the software is offered free of charge, and donations, while appreciated, are strictly optional.
