Logic Pro intermittently registers mouse-down but not mouse-up for input

I’m experiencing an intermittent mouse/trackpad input issue in Logic Pro Creator Studio and the normal version, 12.3.1 on macOS 27.0.

While dragging audio/MIDI regions, tracks, or opening areas such as the Mixer, Logic occasionally appears to register the mouse-down but then hangs briefly and does not properly register the mouse-up. The result is that a normal click behaves like a held click or a drag, until I click again.

What I have ruled out:

  • Happens in a brand-new empty project.
  • Happens with both the built-in MacBook trackpad and a Logitech G Pro mouse.
  • Other apps remain responsive; this is Logic-specific.
  • Resetting Logic settings did not resolve it.
  • No particular plug-in/project appears involved.

I captured a sample during the issue. Logic’s main thread was inside the AppKit mouse-down event path:

NSApplication _handleEvent → NSWindow _handleLeftMouseDownEvent → Logic internal code

The sample then repeatedly showed Logic’s private framework waiting in an event-tracking loop, including NSEventTrackingRunLoopMode and short usleep calls. This seems consistent with Logic entering a drag-tracking state but failing to exit promptly when the click is released.

Has anyone else seen this in Logic Pro? If so, are there any workarounds besides restarting Logic?

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 27.0
