MAC OS 27 reports software not compatible in Brother Printer HL 4150CDN

Just updated to MAC OS 27 Golden Gate. Now my Brother HL 4150CDN print drivers do not work with OS 27. AirPrint not an option & Brother has no updated print drivers that are compatible with MAC OS 27. Any work around to make my printer functional again???

Mac Studio, macOS 27.0

Good News, I have found a solution! Went back to the owners manual and read thru it, then discovered a web page https://support.brother.com/g/b/manualtop.aspx?c=us&lang=en&prod=hl4150cdn_all and found a PDF under Network User Guide under my printer model HL 4150CDN. It describes how to change the settings in the printer menu to have setup configured for ETHERNET. It does use BRAdmin Light Utility. Instructions for both MAC & Windows are given. One method uses the TCP/IP method (that did not work in my case) so I moved on to the ETHERNET (wired network only). Made all of the necessary changes to operate in the ETHERNET setup and could not get anything to print. Shut my MAC Studio down (powered down) and turned off the printer. This just happend to be around 1:00 am. Got up the next morning, booted my MAC Studio up, then turned on my printer. Then tried to print a document. Good news, the document printed just fine. Further investigation suggested that you must give your system & printer time to negotiate the process, it does not happen immediately after changing configuration is the two devices.

On another note, I also have a Windows PC, that now cannot print on the Brother. I suspect that I will have to go thru the same dance with the Windows device to recognize the printer thru the same ETHERNET process.

Thanks to all of you in the community that responded to my issues with my macOS27 upgrade!!!

You should not need any drivers to print directly. Uninstall any Brother software you have for now.

Are you connecting to the printer directly via USB or over the network?

What exactly are you trying to run when the message pops up?

Does the Printer not show up in the Print dialog in any app?

You should be able to add the printer directly to the Printers and Scanners option in the System Settings app if its not already there.

There are other reasons to use Brother iPrint&Scan than simple printing. It is also how you scan remotely from a Brother multi function to a Mac, has detailed controls for scanning from your Mac, gives detailed status info ink levels, etc.

Brother’s support site does not yet list MacOS 27 as supported (only 26). I am keeping a watch on their site and will not upgrade to 27 until it is supported by Brother as these functions are critical to my workflows. https://support.brother.com/g/b/downloadtop.aspx?c=as_ot&lang=en&prod=mfcl3780cdw_us_as

I have a solution!

I ran into the same issue with my Brother printer after upgrading to macOS 27.

I managed to get it working again with a small workaround that I put together and tested myself.

It doesn't require buying anything, and it worked for me even though the original Brother driver is no longer compatible.

If anyone here is still having this problem, I can share the workaround and the installation instructions.

Let me know if you'd like me to post them here
