YouTube Music plays at 10x speed in CarPlay on iPhone 14 Pro Max

Updated to IOS 27 yesterday, and notice a bug today (twice) while using Apple CarPlay (wireless) using YouTube Music.

The music playback was playing very quickly as if 10x speed was turned on.

First time it happened, I tried restarting my stereo, force stop YouTube music & reopen. I ended up restarting the iPhone to fix.

Second time, closing the app and reopening fixed the issue.

While this issue was happening, I noticed on the car screen, it showed the playback was playing at the correct speed.

Never had this issue before, I uploaded the same feedback to YouTube Music as well.

I have a IPhone 14 Pro Max on IOS 27.0

My car is a 2025 Ford Maverick using wireless apple CarPlay.

Since force-closing YouTube Music fixes it, I’d first check whether this is specific to that app rather than CarPlay itself.

Try Apple Music or Podcasts the next time it happens. If those play normally while YouTube Music is running fast, make sure YouTube Music is fully updated and keep the feedback you already sent to Google. Google also recommends closing/reopening the app and restarting the iPhone for playback issues. → Fix YouTube Music issues

I wouldn’t reset CarPlay yet. If the same thing starts happening with other audio apps, then it would be worth forgetting the Maverick under Settings > General > CarPlay and pairing it again. Apple also recommends checking that the vehicle’s infotainment firmware is current. → If you need help with CarPlay – Apple Support
