Check your sales receipt.

  • If the card doesn’t appear on your sales receipt, that usually means the card was never activated at purchase.
  • If the card appears on your sales receipt, then that usually means that the funds were already used.

Contact Apple Support with the receipt and serial number; only they can verify the card’s activation status and help resolve the issue.

Where did you purchase it? You may have been ripped off right in the store if they are displaying the Gift Cards on a rack that is available for anyone to tamper with them. That is pretty common and retailers know it, yet they still fail to protect their customer purchases. Ironically they may lock up products that are stolen from them. I would never recommend purchasing any Gift card from a retailer who does not secure their Gift Cards.
