Apple Pencil not working on iPadOS 27

I did receive a workaround from the Procreate support 🙏 that worked for me!

Your Apple Pencil is exhibiting symptoms of a failing battery - that will not reliably accept or hold any charge. Your discovery of the problem subsequent to updating your iPad to iPadOS 27 may be no more then coincidence.

The tiny internal Li-ion battery is susceptible to permanent/irreversible damage through being left discharged for long periods. Even some “new” pencils can exhibit signs of failure out-of-the-box if they are “old stock”. It is essential that if you have an Apple Pencil that you charge it regularly - whether used or not - so as to protect the battery from deep-discharge. Never allow an Apple Pencil to remain in low-charge state for any period of time - as the internal battery will fail, rendering the Pencil useless. Setting aside an unused Pencil, for extended periods, is a recipe for premature death of the Pencil battery.

If the Pencil Battery has failed, the only remedy is to replace the Pencil. If the battery has failed and your pencil is within its one-year warranty, you should look to having it replaced by your retailer or at an Apple Store.

You would be best advised to visit the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP) - where the technicians will be able to test and assess your iPad and Pencil. If a fault is identified, you’ll be in the best possible place to explore your available options:

There are a number of people reporting, me included, that Apple Pencil / Pencil Pro is not working since upgrading to iPadOS 27.

Reports of Resetting All Settings might cure the issue.

In recognising that there may be other potential causes, the recommendation to visit an Apple Genius Bar for additional troubleshooting was made...

Similar case with mine ipad too, im using ipad air m3 and updated to ipadOS 27 few days ago. my apple pencil pro was working fine but suddenly the battery percentage started dropping even when it is attached to the ipad. when i detach and re attach the pencil it show charging icon but the percentage won’t go up. I tried restarting the ipad but still same issue. I know its nothing to do with the battery inside the pencil , it may some bugs in the OS itself.

It seems to be the bluetooth connection that is faulty since ios26. I constantly have to restart bluetooth for my headphones, and now my pencil.

I use the Apple Pencil USB-C in my iPad 27 and it is working properly.

Are you using an Apple Pencil Pro? Or maybe another version of the USB-C? 

I'm also encountering issues with the apple pencil 2 on my ipad mini (MK7P3LL/A), since update the ipados to 27 it is impossible to draw using Procreate v5.4.14, the pencil works with menues etc. tried another pencil 2 with same issue.

Clearly not upgrading my ipad pro as drawing with Procreate is essential for me.

Same issues here. iPad Pro 11 second generation and a second generation Apple Pencil. The iPad won’t charge the pencil. I always keep it connected so it’s never sitting being uncharged. Now since the upgrade it won’t charge the pencil. It seems like tons of people are having this issue so hopefully Apple will address it!
