Automatically announce day of week on iPhone at a specific time

Use the Shortcuts app, and create a three-step Shortcut.

For example:

Then back at the main screen of the Shortcuts app, add the Shortcut as an Automation.

For example:

This reads off the date and time. Adjust it (in the Format) as desired.

Day of week:

iOS 27.0, same three steps:

Tap the + to add a new shortcut, add the three steps as shown (current date, format, speak), maybe tap on the shortcut name and rename it (here shown renamed to “Speak Weekday”), and test. Then add the automation.

Above example is Shortcuts on iPadOS 26, so it’ll look a little different.

The sequence is common, though.

The three items needed are current date, format, and speak.
