Hi - I have recently updated to iOS 27.0.1. I had issues with tap screen to wake and also the side power button press would not wake either.

My screen is as original - same protector as previous - so only issue was identified as update.

I followed suggestions, all were as required; Accessibility > Touch > Tap or Swipe to Wake was enabled.

Still mainly issues at night noticed, when dark environment.

Going through all other settings, I noticed under Touch there was Prefer Single Touch Actions. I toggled this to On - and the problem seems to have reduced.

I only toggled last night - but it’s still dark and I can access my screen with a single tap.

Not sure when the setting was added, but it seems to work currently for me.

Hi, iOS 27.2 was released three days ago. Please update your iPhone and give it 5 to 7 days to finish indexing, syncing and optimizing. During that time your device may occasionally seem slow or sluggish. This is due to the CPU and GPU doing the above processing. Higher than normal battery usage and higher temperatures may also be observed. You can minimize your inconvenience by plugging your device into a charger, connecting to WiFi and locking it before you go to bed. This allows the device to complete tasks while you’re sleeping and minimize your daytime downtime. Good luck.

If you have your iPhone screen replaced or serviced through an unauthorised service centre, the replacement display may not perform exactly like the original Apple display. One of the noticeable differences can be touch responsiveness—the screen may feel slightly slower to respond, less precise, or inconsistent, particularly during fast typing, scrolling, gaming, or other situations requiring quick and accurate touch input.

This can happen because the replacement screen may not use the same quality of display and touch-detection components as the original. The calibration, touch sensitivity, refresh behaviour, and overall integration with the iPhone's hardware and software may also differ.

An unauthorised repair does not automatically mean that the screen will be poor, but there is a greater possibility of differences in touch response, display quality, brightness, colour accuracy, True Tone functionality, durability, and overall reliability.

For the most consistent experience, especially on newer iPhones, having the display replaced by Apple or an Apple Authorised Service Provider is generally the safer option.

Parts and service history

With iPhone 11 models and later, excluding iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd generation), using iOS 15.2 and later, you can go to Settings > General > About for the parts and service history of your iPhone. You can also find out if the display has been replaced. If the repair was done using genuine Apple parts and processes, "Genuine Apple Part" will appear next to Display.
