How can I download entire folders from my phone to my PC?

Is there no way to download entire folders from my iPhone to my PC without syncing everything with iCloud for Windows? I have no interest in an ongoing sync--my phone and the computer should remain separate because of how they're used, and I don't want iPhone stuff eating up my computer drive space, but folders can't be downloaded through iCloud on a browser (which is inexplicable, I guess the developer just got bored before adding such elementary functionality), and iCloud for Windows seems useless unless you want all your computer space used by your phone. If you mean folders in the Files app, Windows can’t browse the iPhone’s entire Files folder structure over USB. The Apple Devices app only exposes files from apps that support File Sharing.

For a one-time transfer without setting up iCloud sync, I’d use a shared folder on the PC. In the iPhone Files app, go to Browse > … > Connect to Server, connect to the Windows shared folder, then copy the folder directly to the PC.

Another option is iCloud for Windows. Current versions don’t have to download your entire iCloud Drive — files can remain cloud-only until you open or download them, and you can use “Free up space” afterward.
