Received unexpected email about Apple account recovery contact removal

Most commonly, this is a sophisticated phishing attempt designed to look legitimate. Scammers send these emails to trigger panic, hoping you will click a malicious link inside the email to "fix" the issue, which then steals your login credentials. 

Try this

• Do Not Click Any Links: Never use links or phone numbers provided inside that specific email. 
• Verify Your Settings on a Trusted Device:

1. 1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Settings app.
   2. Tap [Your Name] at the top, then select Sign-In & Security.
   3. Tap Account Recovery.
   4. Look under the Recovery Contacts section. If it is empty or only shows contacts you explicitly recognize, your account is secure.

• Report the Email: If you suspect the email is fake, forward it as an attachment to reportphishing@apple.com to help Apple track the scammer.
