Why is my project having audio drops during playback when there are obvious wave forms in the magnetic time line. The audio is dropping with background music and on camera / voice over narration.

Do you have several video tracks playing? Any effects applied? This may just be a real-time playback issue. I have seen this on my machine on occasion when the time line was a bit complicated.
To test this, click to highlight a clip in the problem section, then press CONTROL-R to render that section of the time line. When the render finishes, play that section again. If it plays without any audio dropouts, everything is fine, and it is just a real-time playback issue. When you export your finished project, it will be fine.

What percentage of your system drive is free space? At least 15% I hope.
