I'm really upset they removed the walkie talkie app in the 27 update. My wife and I used that all the time when she was working. When she heard the distinctive sound she knew I needed her to call me asap. there is no alternative for it either.
What I found is that back in 2019 Apple noticed a security flaw but there’s no official reason why Apple removed it but Apple never paid attention to Walkie-Talkie and never updated or invested in it since they added the feature.
So it looks like Apple is quietly retiring the feature that they stopped investing rather with anything to do with that security flaw.
Still a bummer that they removed it. 😞

Yeah. Totally agree with you. Used to have simple conversations with my good friends on those apps. Really liked it. But why did Apple remove the apps?? Not even notifying the user.

I am really annoyed that my latest update removed the walkie talkie App from my watch and iPhone. This feature was a big draw card for my husband and I changing from an android set up at a huge cost. Like others I use it daily to communicate with my husband who doesn’t carry a mobile at all. Apple has no idea what this means to us and I am sure others who use this app daily for short, efficient communications. Please review your decision Apple!
Yeah, when I updated to WatchOS 27 it disappeared. As an Apple fan I kinda regret upgrading my Watch to WatchOS 27. ☹️
