Apple Notes PDF export saves handwritten notes as one page after iPadOS 27 update

Apple Notes: PDF export now saves the entire handwritten note as one page after iPadOS 27 update

Hi Apple Community,

I am facing an issue with the Apple Notes app on my iPad after updating to iPadOS 27.

Previously, when I converted my handwritten notes to PDF, the content was automatically divided into multiple A4 pages. However, after updating to iPadOS 27, the same type of handwritten note is being exported as one very long page instead of being divided into multiple A4 pages.

I have already selected A4 as the paper size, but the problem still occurs.

What I am experiencing:

  • Before iPadOS 27: Handwritten Notes → PDF → multiple A4 pages
  • After iPadOS 27: Handwritten Notes → PDF → entire note on one page
  • Paper size: A4
  • Device: iPad
  • iPadOS: iPadOS 27

I have attached a screenshot showing the issue.

Could someone please confirm whether this is a known issue/bug in iPadOS 27 Notes, or if there is a new setting that needs to be changed to make the PDF automatically split into multiple A4 pages?

This feature was working correctly before the update, so I would appreciate any information about a fix or workaround.

Thank you.PDF link

Presumably you are using the Print function to export your Note(s) to a PDF file?

I am unable to replicate the issue that you describe. When tested, exporting my own long notes using the Print function paginate entirely as expected.

If using some other method to export your Notes, please provide additional detail.

Otherwise, if your iPad is not operating as expected, try a forced-restart - as this will often clear an isolated or post-update software issue:

Force restart iPad (models with Face ID or with Touch ID in the top button)

If your iPad doesn’t have the Home button, do the following:

  1. Press and quickly release the volume button nearest to the top button.
  2. Press and quickly release the volume button farthest from the top button.
  3. Press and hold the top button.
  4. When the Apple logo appears, release the top button.

If the problem persists after performing the restart, it may be necessary to reset your iPad settings. While this reset will not cause any loss of data, as a precaution, it is always wise to ensure that you have a current iCloud or iTunes backup before performing the reset:

When you are happy to proceed, you can perform the reset from iPad settings:

Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPad > Reset > Reset All Settings

If the problem still doesn’t clear, the next step is to reset the iPad to factory settings:

Otherwise, you would be well advised to seek assistance directly from Apple Support. You can contact the Support Team using the Support link at top-right or bottom-left of this page.
