iCloud+ Apple TV prevents changing country or region

I have an active iCloud+ 200 GB subscription in Ukraine.

Apple TV and Apple Arcade were recently added automatically to my iCloud+ subscription. I did not subscribe to Apple TV separately, and there is no option to cancel only Apple TV while keeping my iCloud+ storage plan.

When I try to change my Apple Account country/region to Poland, Apple blocks the change and says:

“You have one or more Apple TV subscriptions which must be cancelled before you can change your country or region.”

This creates a circular problem:

iCloud+ automatically includes Apple TV → Apple TV cannot be cancelled separately → Apple TV blocks changing country/region → the only visible workaround is cancelling the entire iCloud+ plan.

I use about 155 GB of my 200 GB iCloud storage, including Photos and backups, so cancelling my entire storage plan just to change the App Store region is not a reasonable workaround.

Has anyone else encountered this since Apple TV was bundled with iCloud+? Is there any way to remove only the Apple TV entitlement or change the country without cancelling iCloud+?

I do understand. The original poster stated that Apple TV was added to their iCloud subscription, which they did not subscribe to and wanted to remove it since there is no interest in that service. In trying to switch countries the message appeared “You have one or more Apple TV subscriptions which must be cancelled before you can change your country or region.”

Changing countries is not permitted unless you have moved and now reside in a new location, and in the latter case cancelling current subscriptions will always be required before you can switch regions. That is not an issue nor is it a new stipulation.

As I explained, Apple TV is simply part of the iCloud subscription in that region for no additional cost. Separate subscriptions for that service are being phased out, and iCloud will now grant access to it as part of that subscription. If you are not interested you can simply choose to not use it.

I already contacted Apple Support, and they clearly stated that this is a known issue and that they are currently working on it. I will check back with them in a couple of days, as this is clearly an issue that did not exist before. I have also attached a screenshot showing the issue. For people like me who need to switch countries regularly, this makes the service essentially unusable.

The service is automatically added to iCloud in those regions for no extra cost. It is not a separate subscription so there is nothing to cancel and you aren't paying for anything extra so you can just choose not to use it if not interested.

If you are referring to the issue where Apple TV app is not available on your smart tv or other device, then that is not related to what the poster wrote and you can refer to other threads where that is covered.

Then you were given incorrect information. Switching countries is only permitted when one has moved and now resides in that country, and cancelling current subscriptions has always been required.

If one changes countries for any other reason it is a violation of the terms of the account.

Furthermore, changing countries in this instance has been specified by both you and the original poster to be because of Apple TV now being included. That service is part of iCloud in that region and wiill be going forward, it is not a separate service anymore and there is no extra charge.

The bottom line is that there is no need to change region, simply don’t use Apple TV if you aren’t interested in the service.

You can choose to believe what you want, and I feel we will continue to go around in circles so I will bow out of this discussion.
