Apple aware and I hope the fix is quick or they are going to get a lot of returns. For this from Apple

I have checked the results and I can see that the device diagnostics have passed but as per my resources apple is aware about this issues on the new iPhone 18 Pro Max

The results of the investigation may come in the form of an OS update.

So please take a backup of the device regularly and once new iOS is launched update it immediately.

Just a guess: When you update to iOS 27 the entire search database must be reindexed, and when that process completes the phone probably needs to restart. If the problem continues contact Apple for hardware support: Contact Apple for support and service - Apple Support

Update : I went to the Apple Store, and after their diagnosis, they said my phone needs to be repaired. This is my second device, and I told them I’m not interested in a refurbished one, which they were offering me. A new one wasn’t available at the time.

They’ve now given me some extra time to exchange it for a new one once it becomes available. I’ll wait 15 days, and then I’ll get a new one.

My brand new iPhone 18 pro max is currently doing the same thing and so is my wife’s phone. Smh. I want to think this is a software issue but when I talk to apple support and they ran a diagnostic my phone failed. So I’ll be returning my phone

The 18 Pro requires an update in day one. Are you sure it didn't simply update automatically?

Mine started a constant restart loop during phone transfer got an over heat warning when the phone was only slightly warm and screen started flashing on and off. Was able to wipe the phone and start the process but now it just turns on and off and puts itself into Recovery Mode. I had to go to ATT and have my number put back to my old phone as I could not even use it.

Setup an appointment at Best Buy Saturday 09/19 since they are the closest place to me, and they could not even get diagnostics to run. Had to talk to Sales as we can't put the battery in ready for shipment mode. So they are doing a replacement for my phone. But now I won't get it until 10/13-10/20.

What scares me is I have a second phone coming for my mom in two weeks who lives 2 hours away and if we have the same issues.

has randomly rebooted 4 times in 36 hours. Most of the time I am not doing anything, it is just sitting on my desk/ night stand

not acceptable. Brand new phone. I am not going to Goto an Apple Store. This seems to be a common issue as reported on this thread. Apple better come out with an update quick.

iPhone 18 Pro Max 512gb. I am having the same issue with my device rebooting randomly. I picked up my device yesterday from the Apple Store. Later on that same evening it rebooted me once. Today throughout the day. It has rebooted on me 5 times. I really hope apple fixes this with a software update soon. Picking up my device yesterday was a very long process. I would hate to have to exchange it.

Iphone analytics mean absolutely nothing to humans, uncomfortable sounding words like "panic " may mislead you. Was it simply a software update? What were the build numbers before and after the restart(s)?

Having same issue , been on to apple support today, he assured me that apple engineers are working on it. All my analytics was ok apparently. He advised it was software issue but surely other phones not 18pro would be having this issues if it was software?

Same issue, bought the iP 18PM yesterday, updated out the box to current V27 (also yesterday). Went thru the entire day (without any issues) and literally 20 min before this post it just reboots(same symptoms as previous mentioned by others Black Screen, followed by Apple Boot Logo)

What did I do:

Was in Discord with friends while driving home

Entered home, logged into PC, had to QR Scan a login verification (while still in a active Discord conversation)

Scanned QR Verification

Black Screen

Boot Splash Screen

My iPhone did the same thing at the second day, purchased it yesterday. Did the first update to 28 right away Also, at the first day today, it rebooted one time today!

What did I do?:

I had discord open and was in a active conversation with a colleague

Then opened the phone app to do a QR code login on my PC. As soon as I opened the camera app a second later, the phone just went blank and the boot splash screen Prompted up and the phone rebooted

I’m having the same issue happening to me in Singapore. I got the iPhone 18 pro on 18 Sep and it has crashed unexpectedly 4 times until now. It happened when I was using Face ID or Apple wallet.

I have an appointment with Genius Bar to look into this next week but hoping Apple releases some news and solutions about this by then!
