iPhone notifications stopped mirroring on Mac after OS 27 upgrade

Since upgrading to OS 27 (iOS and macOS), iPhone notifications have stopped mirroring on my Mac entirely.

What I've checked so far

  • Notification settings are correct on both devices. "Allow notifications from iPhone" is enabled on my Mac. Notably though, the "Mirror iPhone Notifications From" section is not showing up. All apps on my iPhone also have the "Show on Mac" toggle turned on.
  • Screen mirroring works relatively well. It is clunky, but all the quirks I already expect. It's never been entirely seamless since it launched two years ago in my opinion.

Troubleshooting steps I've already tried

  • On my Mac: Toggled the "Allow notifications from iPhone" off then back on
  • On my iPhone: Toggle the "Show on Mac" off then on again
  • Restart my Mac
  • Restart my iPhone

Does anyone have a suggestion how to fix this? Thanks!

Something new has shown up in iPhone Mirroring: Use your iPhone from your Mac - Apple Support since you most likely looked at it. Even when I found it, it didn't seem to work at first but then it did. Very strange!

Bottom line is, if you use Sidecar, it interferes with the notifications, so you need to stop using it. If you're like me, you barely used it anyway and mostly forgot about it, but the settings were still stopping it.

So, go to System Settings -> Displays -> Advanced and turn off the items under "Link to Mac or iPad". Note that if you search for "sidecar" in settings, you won't find this.

The next tricky part is that this might not make a difference immediately. When I tested it right after I turned those off, the notifications were still not reaching my mac. I'd given up for the day. When I came back the next day, I started seeing some notifications from my iPhone. I thought at first it was just one or two apps that were working but more and more notifications started showing up over the next day or two, and things seem back to normal now. Baffled but glad.

A little background: I'd been getting these notifications for a long time, so my notifications settings were already correct. I had checked them, too, thinking that iPhone notifications might have been turned off when I upgraded to 27.0.1, but they hadn't been. Everything looked correct. I'd revoked access in iPhone mirroring and turned it back on, maybe twice, to no avail. Turning off the sidecar options finally did the trick for me.

I’ve had a similar issue.

At first, “Allow notifications from iPhone” didn’t show up under my Mac’s notification settings, but I could still access it from General → AirDrop & Continuity → Notifications & Live Activities. However, after resetting both devices, “Allow notifications from iPhone” has returned to my Mac’s notifications settings. But here is the catch: when I go to “Allow notifications from iPhone,” it only displays the Apple apps—no third-party apps—as options, regardless of whether I enabled “Show on Mac” for the third-party apps on my iPhone.

I have tried resetting both devices again, but the issue remains.

iPhone Mirroring: Use your iPhone from your Mac - Apple Support

Appreciate you sharing this support page from Apple. I've already read through that article and found nothing that helped resolve my issue.

  • My devices meet the system requirements. I am using an M-series Mac and a 17-series iPhone. I am running macOS 27 Golden Gate and iOS 27 respectively.
  • Both devices are on the same Wifi network, and both have bluetooth switched on. I don't have VPN. Firewall settings are also inactive on both devices.
  • I am using a newly purchased iPhone so the access I granted for iPhone Mirroring is actually new. Nonetheless, it's worth noting that revoking access and setting up iPhone mirroring again did nothing to solve my problem.

I got the "Mirror iPhone Notifications From" to show up (I don't know how). But I noticed one specific app was missing from the list. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling it to no avail.

So I restarted my iPhone and Mac in hopes that maybe it resolves the problem. Viola, suddenly the entire "Mirror iPhone Notifications From" was missing again! I also noticed that the "iPhone apps" list is missing from my Spotlight.

There's no world where I'm logging out of iCloud and back in. It absolutely shreds my iCloud settings as it pertains to every app. I just added the iPhone 18 Pro to my account, so I updated MacOS to Golden Gate as my primary phone and MacBook I like to keep current. However, I am running 3 iPhones in my cars, a home iPhone, and international travel iPhone, and a rolling backup iPhone (downloads and keeps originals of messages, drive, and photos), in addition to 2 iPads and 2 watches. It takes about 12-16 hours per device to get them setup how I like them after getting signed into iCloud, and I recently just completed one such audit which took an entire week. Each device is setup to mirror to the Macbook, now none of them do. All of the devices have wildly different settings depending on their usage, which adds to the problem because I do not use one batch of settings. I also don't allow any notifications from iPhone at all on computer, and don't use sidecar. Can't believe Apple bricked mirroring.
