How have I managed to update my iPhone 13 mini to iOS 27? Think I need to buy a new phone now.. battery doesn’t last the night. I’ve not wanted to change because of the size’s of the phone are not suitable for my needs

What you more likely have is a five year old iPhone with a failing battery, if you haven't had the battery replaced since you got the phone. Batteries don't last forever. Open Settings > Battery > Battery Health - if as I suspect, your battery health is 80% or lower, your battery is failing and needs to be replaced at your Apple Store Genius Bar. This isn't very likely an issue having anything to do with iOS 27.
