Siri reading lock screen notifications while phone locked iOS 27

Upgraded to iOS 27 on the release date. Before upgrading, I could always ask Siri to read me my notifications while my phone was locked and she would read whatever notifications are on my lock screen. After the iOS 27 update she continued the same behaviour for the first two days but now she is consistently asking me to unlock my phone before reading my notifications. Even though no settings were changed when she randomly started asking me to unlock my phone, I extensively went through every setting possible to make sure this action was allowed and all settings are correct. Is anyone else experiencing this? Is this a known bug? I especially use Siri to read my notifications while driving so I do not have to take my hands or eyes off the road and having to unlock my phone now creates a safety hazard as well as being very annoying considering it worked just fine before iOS 27.

Same for me after the 27 update. I have a 15 Pro Max. Another in my household has a 16 and is having the same issue. I've verified that Siri is allowed on the Lock Screen. Message previews are set to Always, meaning the actual message contents are already visible without unlocking my phone. I've disabled and reenabled Siri's permissions, restarted my phone, and even switched back to Classic Siri. Nothing works. Siri refuses to read even a brand-new incoming message. Apple Intelligence is supposed to represent progress. Instead, I'm left with a voice assistant that can't handle something this simple.

After the iOS 27 update

Not every issue an individual encounters on their device can be attributed to an iOS update. If the update itself were the root cause, then every device running that same version of iOS would exhibit the identical problem. In such a scenario, the forums would be flooded with countless posts reporting the same malfunction, creating an unmistakable wave of complaints that no one could possibly overlook. The absence of such widespread reports strongly indicates that the issue is not systemic, but rather specific to the device in question.
