iPhone 18 Pro drops out or freezes when using CarPlay using the latest iOS27

My iPhone 18 Pro drops out or freezes when using CarPlay using the latest iOS27.

I’ve tested both wired and wireless CarPlay on my 2 cars and it doesn’t matter how it’s connected but it will constantly drop out or freeze altogether especially when listening to music and navigating.

With wired it will drop out and then I have to reconnect. With wireless it will just freeze.

I tested with my iPhone 15 Pro on iOS27 and it has no issues so it seems to be only with the new phone.

Is this a known bug or issue?

Please try this

Turn off Connectivity Assist: Go to Settings > Wi-Fi, find and turn off Connectivity Assist. .

Rename Your iPhone: Go to Settings > General > About and give your iPhone 18 Pro a completely unique name rather than keeping the default or transferring your old phone's backup name.

Clear and Re-pair: Delete the car profile from your iPhone under Settings > General > CarPlay, and remove your iPhone from your car's Bluetooth/CarPlay memory entirely. Then set it up fresh.

Test a Different Cable: The iPhone 18 Pro is exceptionally sensitive to cable quality for wired connections. If using a wired setup, try swapping out the cable—certain third-party or older certified cables trigger handshake loops that cause random drops.

Disable VPNs or Vocal Shortcuts: If you run an active VPN application or have Vocal Shortcuts enabled under Accessibility, temporarily turn them off, as they interfere with the continuous background data stream required by CarPlay and navigation.

I don't have complete drops, but response times can be so slow that it appears to drop. This is both wired and wireless. Profile has been deleted several times, tried multiple cables, connectivity assist is always off and have tried turning it on and back off, reset all network settings, VPNs disabled. Biggest problems are the initial connect time. It is now 3-4 minutes vs 10-15 seconds, and SIRI can lag so much that I frequently think it will not respond.
