What exactly happens when you try to lock the Mac?
Apple menu > Lock Screen or Control-Command-Q should normally take you straight to the Lock Screen.
If nothing happens, restart the Mac and try both methods again. If the Mac does lock but doesn’t ask for your password when you return, that’s a different setting.

I have tested the Lock Screen configuration as "Turn off display on power adapter when inactive" - "For 1 minute" and it doesn't work. The screen is still active after that time. Ctrl+cmd+Q work as expected. Any other suggestion to try? Thanks in advance for your comments
