iOS 26.6.2 HDMI YouTube issue.

When I plug my HDMI adapter into my iPhone SE running iOs 26.6.2 and playing a YouTube video the video plays on the TV but the iPhone screen goes black. The YourTube app also doesn't respond to any touches on the screen. This is a new issue. I've been playing YouTube videos through this HDMI adapter for a long time. The only way to get YouTube to play the video on the iPhone and the TV is to delete the YouTube app and redownload it. It will then work correctly until I quit the app and start it again. Restarting the iPhone does not fix the issue. This issue does not exist with the Netflix, PBS or PrimeVideo apps.

Please try this

Clear App Cache/Data via Offloading: Instead of fully deleting the app every time, go to Settings > General> iPhone Storage > YouTube, and tap Offload App. Then reinstall it from the same menu. This clears temporary cache files while keeping it faster than a full App Store redownload.

Try Playing via Safari: Open YouTube inside Apple Safari rather than the dedicated app and connect the HDMI adapter. If Safari mirrors and controls normally, the issue is strictly isolated to a bug within the current build of the YouTube iOS app.

Report the Bug: Submit feedback through the YouTube support or via the app's feedback tool so YouTube engineers are aware of the specific external display freezing regression on newer app versions.
